	Grouping, aligning and spacing your elements Have you ever tried lining up and spacing art elements on your page, like alphabet letters, and been frustrated by your inability to get them exactly right? You can eliminate this problem by using the new Align and Space features. Group your items together by clicking on the first item and then holding down the Shift key on your computer keyboard as you click on the remaining items. As you do this, you will see the green outline expand to surround all of the items in your group. Next click on one of the Align buttons to line up all of the objects evenly. You can line them up according the top of the objects, the bottom, either side or align them according to their centers. Once all of your objects have been aligned and are in an even vertical line, you can click one of the Space buttons to evenly distribute the items horizontally, in other words, putting an equal amount of space between each object. If you have a vertical stack of objects, you can use the Space button to put an even amount of space between the tops and bottoms of each object as well. When you click off of the objects, the grouping will be broken and each object will move on its own again.

On a mission

I am on a new mission to design (in advance) several storybook/poster/card (templates) in anticipation for the Christmas holiday rush. This is really less daunting than it sounds. It just takes some planning and preparation. Not to mention, I am excited that the new studio enhancements will help me save time. Case in point, I managed to start/finish (3) storybook projects for the month of July from pre-designed templates. You can too..just ask me how and we’ll have a brainstorming session together.

Anyway, upon reviewing some of my completed storybook projects for some designing inspiration (do’s and don’ts), I noticed that some of my “pages” were not displayed correctly as thumbnails. Apparently, this is because I needed to clear out my Flash Temp Files. If you are experience this same problem, go to the following link and follow the steps.

Storybooking Tips

This month, I encourage each of you to publish at least one storybook so that you can experience the first “magic moment” of discovering special memories through your photos and stories. The next “magic moment” you will experience will be when you receive your storybook and that feeling when you hold it in your hands and look at each of the pages (over and over again). Storybooking is truly a heartwarming celebration of you and your family.

STORYBOOKING TIPS

1. Know your audience. Begin by writing a “letter” to that person. Keep it short and sweet.

2. Narrow your vision. How do you eat a pizza pie? Think “bite size” and one bite at a time. Keep in mind that you can always write several books for different periods of one’s life.

3. Start talking about your ideas. Highlight what appeals to you. By sharing your story ideas, you are commited.

4. Sprinkle with humor and conversation. It’s not always easy to remember specific names, dates and places (past or present). The big picture is the STORY. Describe the fun things. We all love to hear what he or she said.

5. Close with a favorite quote. A quote, poem or your own words of love all make great endings.
